Things that go on spacecraft (like cameras, or sensors) need to be able to work in extreme conditions when they’re in space – for instance they can get very hot, or very cold.
We operate special rooms, where scientists and engineers can test their equipment, to make sure they’ll work before they go into space.
In these rooms, we control things like temperature, humidity, and pressure.
We can monitor very closely what’s going on in these rooms. We can detect particles floating around in the air that are 300 times smaller than the width of a human hair.
The rooms also need to be very clean, to make sure things are sent into space free of germs.

Why did I choose this job:
I like that I’m supporting the space industry. It’s not quite rocket science, but helping to get satellites into space was very appealing to me.
