0 Question: how many types of soils are there Keywords: earth, science, soil Asked by anon-297525 to Andrew on 1 Jul 2021.
Andrew Christie answered on 1 Jul 2021:
Too many to list but they can be put into 6 main groups – Sand, Loam, Peat, Chalk, Silt and Clay – and all the different types are made up from these. The institute does a lot of work on soil classes in Scotland which you can see here if you want to find out more https://www.hutton.ac.uk/learning/natural-resource-datasets/soilshutton/soils-maps-scotland/download
